The King Abdullah II School for Information Technology (KASIT) at the University of Jordan recently celebrated its Silver Jubilee, marking 25 years of contribution to digital education and innovation in Jordan.
As part of the celebration, His Excellency Prof. Nathir Obeidat, President of the University of Jordan, officially inaugurated the new AI Lab, a state-of-the-art facility designed to equip students with practical, industry-relevant skills in artificial intelligence.
The newly established AI Lab provides a dedicated environment for applied AI training, student-led projects, and industry-focused upskilling. Its establishment bridges academic learning with real-world applications, enabling students to gain hands-on experience with advanced AI technologies and develop skills that meet market demand.
The lab was co-funded under the BuildTech initiative through a collaborative effort between ProgressSoft, KASIT and seven other leading ICT and financial sector institutions, reflecting a shared commitment to empowering the next generation of digital professionals.
At ProgressSoft, we believe the most effective way to close skill gaps is by creating clear pathways from learning to real work through exposure, mentorship, hands-on practice, and confidence-building. Education remains a core pillar of our long-term commitment to sustainable impact. By aligning learning with market demand for advanced software skills, we invest in modern learning environments, contribute industry expertise, and enable practical opportunities that help graduates transition into productive, impactful careers.
The AI Lab exemplifies this philosophy, serving as a hub where students can transform knowledge into tangible solutions while gaining the experience necessary to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital economy.
During the inauguration, Michael Wakileh, Chief Executive Officer of ProgressSoft, was presented with a shield of appreciation in recognition of the company’s contribution to the AI Lab. Esteemed guests also toured the facility and witnessed live student demonstrations utilizing the lab’s resources and equipment.
Alongside ProgressSoft, the BuildTech coalition supporting the AI Lab includes Specialized Technical Services (STS), Integrated Technology Group (ITG), mawdoo3.com, Estarta Solutions, INVESTBANK, Orange, and Zain, collectively reinforcing private-sector participation in national capacity building.
