The ProgressSoft Sponsored Initiative 'Piloting Programming Subject at Public Schools' Completes its First Phase

Amman , February 1, 2016

Hello World Kids Organization and with the sponsorship of ProgressSoft Corporation, completed the first semester of the academic year 2015/2016, where 4 public schools in Jordan are participating to pilot a programming curriculum to become officially taught in the schools around the kingdom.

The first semester included the Level One Course, which Hello World Kids usually teaches to its students, and it included 57 girls; where they were introduced to the basic understanding of programming, how the computer works and how humans can control computers through programming commands.

In this level, the young programmers used Small Basic programming language and became capable of creating programs that draw, play music, show images and do motions. At this stage, the girls in the four public schools were able to write coding lines by themselves and created their own projects, varying from sunset scenes to small games.

Level Two Course will start in the second semester on the 1st of March 2016, where young programmers will learn how to program games and much more.

The Jordan Education Initiative (JEI) signed the memorandum of understanding with Hello World Kids Organization and ProgressSoft Corporation early in September 2015, to pilot a programming course in four public schools in the academic year 2015/2016, aiming to enter the programming academic curriculum in children's education in public schools in Jordan.
